Peter Jones, W-H School Committee and Dr. Avery, Superintendent, met with the Board and discussed time frame of implementing a regional K-12 system. They have requested a member of the Board to sit on the REgional School Study Committee. This Committee consists of Regional School, local school, fin. coms., Selectmen, and citizens from each Town. They discussed a future presentation to Town Meeting with a preliminary report, but stated Towns would have to vote prior to November 15. Mrs. Murdoch suggested one Town Meeting devoted exclusively to this discussion and vote. If this is voted in the fall, would be plausible for FY 93.
Voted 3-0, on motion by Crowley, 2nd Vess for one joint pole hearing on February 26th at the request of Eastern Utilities. 7:30 p.m.
Discussed Executive Assistant position and posting. Mr. Nugent made his recommendation, but will wait for full Board to act on this.
Mrs. Murdoch noted that the petition article submitted by the Clerical Union was certified with 192 signatures.
On motion by Vess, 2nd Crowley, voted to authorize Chairman to sign transfer of ambulance.
ON motion by Vess, 2nd by Crowley, voted by roll call to enter exec. session with Carole McCormack and Barbara Gomez under #3, negotiations. Left session
Voted to enter executive session under #4 with Police Union, Andrews, Farrell, Larkin, Gredler, King, Savage. Adjourned from exec. session at 8:45 to public session.
Chief Twomey met with the Board who suggested to him that he hold monthly meetings with his men beginning this week. It was noted that an article in Town Meeting for funds to be inserted into this budget, but that overtime for the past week was 2,654.85. Twomey stated 975 to cover shifts vacant by absence of Sergeant Willey. Chief asked to return next week.
